Answer to Eviction self-help guided interview

Produced by Greater Boston Legal Services
Created September 2018

Use Greater Boston Legal Services' guided interview for Massachusetts tenants who are being evicted.

Answer questions that help you make sure that you respond to your landlord's eviction case correctly. Once you are finished, you will be able to download and print the Answer you need to file at court.

It takes about 25 to 90 minutes to complete the whole interview. And it costs nothing but your time and printing costs. It is completely free to use.

At the end of the interview, you can ask the system to send you reminders of important dates by text and email.

Before you start, you need

The Summons and Complaint you received from your landlord. picture of a sample Summons and Complaint
The Notice to Quit or Notice to Terminate Tenancy from your landlord. There is no standard form and it might not look like the sample. Note: you may never have received a notice. picture of a notice to quit
A printer or a way to save your Answer so you can print it later.
  • You can download it to your computer or a thumb drive.
  • You can email it to yourself or someone else.

You may be able to print the finished interview at your nearest library or Court Service Center.
