Understanding Unemployment Insurance - community questions

Produced by Massachusetts Law Reform Institute
Created July 2021

On July 19, 2021, the Massachusetts Access to Justice Commission sponsored a question and answer session for community advocates in Massachusetts about Understanding Unemployment Insurance.

Hannah Tanabe, Greater Boston Legal Services and Monica Halas ,Greater Boston Legal Services, were the presenters.

Moderated by Jennifer Howard, Rosie's Place, and Emily Leung, Justice Center of Southeast Massachusetts

One clarification on a question in the presentation about whether work search is applicable to individuals on furlough.  Currently work search does apply to everyone including those on furlough, with some flexibility (we do not know the scope) provided to individuals receiving the PEUC extension who have COVID-19 related issues for not working.
