What you do after you file depends on what you file.

If you file a Complaint or Opposition to a Complaint that asks the judge to give you permission to move.

  • Talk to a lawyer
  • The court will give you a date for a case management conference to come to court.
  • Know what will happens at court.

If you filed a Request, Motion, or Opposition to a Request or Motion.

  • Talk to a lawyer
  • The court will give you a date to come to court for a hearing.
  • Be ready to tell the judge why they should let you do what you are asking for.
  • Bring evidence and witnesses with you to court.  For example, if you are asking the judge to let you move right away, bring witnesses and evidence to show the judge why they should give you permission to leave the state with your child.
  • Know what will happens at court.
