In 2006, Massachusetts Health Care Reform became law. The new law made health care less expensive for Massachusetts residents. Now, if you are offered a health care plan that you can afford, you must get it.
Some people still may not be able to find health insurance that they can afford. If you cannot afford health insurance you should not have to pay a penalty.
